NARCISSISM IN RELIGIOUS PEOPLE: A STUDY ON STUDENTS RECEIVING HIGHER RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Abstract

Author(s): İsa ÖZEL

Nowadays there are many things that are not really needed but are portrayed as essential requirements, and people's desire to consume is constantly stimulated. So many things - from what people will wear to what type of houses they will live in, from their household appliances to what kind of holidays they should go on - are, so to speak, imposed on them through various instruments such as newspapers, magazines, television, billboards as well as social networks. This situation has an overwhelming influence on all segments of the society, be they religious or irreligious. This study was carried out in 2012 on university students in a school of Islamic theology. In the study, the students' levels of narcissism were examined in terms of such variables as age, gender, and socio-economic status.
