Proverbs and idioms which reflect the language treasure and word power of a nation are clearly the phrase of this nation’s experiences and richness of culture. Mostly we apply the proverbs and idioms in order to tell the events and situations easily and effectively that are difficult to express in our life. In this way we can objectify the abstract events and situations and add wealth to conversation. For this reason the poets want to make use of this richness of proverbs and idioms in their poems. Muhyî the sufis poet of XVI. century had taken the advantages of proverbs and idioms for an effective conversation in his poems. In this study the proverbs and idioms that were used in the work of Muhyî named Mahzen-i Esrâr have been detected and the explanations of these have been given and also the differences of the idioms and proverbs that were used in that time have been shawn
