Author(s): Selçuk PEKER

Among the mountains of Central Anatolia which are associated with Mount Hasan, Mount Ekecik is located within the political borders of Aksaray province, in a geographical area in the midst of Aksaray, Nev?ehir and K?r?ehir. Based on the mountain cult, a grave of the old was built at the summit of Mount Ekecik; which was attributed a lot of preternaturalness, particularly rainmaking. Mount Ekecik is regarded as sacred in the eyes of the society and its summit is visited for many reasons as a resort of appeal. One thing is certain that these visits are based upon the effect of mountain cult, along with various other cults. In this study, Mount Ekecik will be discussed as a whole and the reasons underlying the sacredness attributed to the mountain by the society will be examined.
