MONGOLIAN LOANWORDS IN YELLOW UYGHUR

Yellow Uyghurs are one of the Turkic people living in the People’s Republic of China. Yellow Uyghurs are known as Sar?g Yogur/Yugur which has 4600 speakers. Most of them live in Gansu Province of China. Yellow Uyghur, spoken by the Yogur people, is also known as Western Yugur. In the vocabulary of Yellow Uyghur is seen many loanwords from Tibetian, Chinese, Mongolian. This article aims to identify Mongolian loanwords in Yellow Uyghur. The book published by Malov in 1957 was scanned to achieve this aim. As Yellow Uyghur shares the same features as the Siberian languages, the Mongolian loanwords were compared with other Siberian languages. The words that were used instead of the extinct Mongolian loandwords in other Siberian languages were shown with a # sign in footnote. The results were presented in the conclusion part.
