MINSTRELSY TRADITION WITH FIDDLE IN THE BLACK SEA REGION

Fiddle, in origin draws attention to local music instrument of the whole Black Sea Region. It is evaluated as a “small violin, an instrument belongs to the Kumans, a kind of Kopuz. The fiddle is the functional mean of culture which gives meaning to local people’s all stages of life. In the Black Sea Region, a musician who plays the fiddle is a fiddler. Minstrels with fiddle is improvising besides playing the fiddle. The “harmonization of tradition with individual creativity” is the distinctive feature of the minstrels with fiddle. To tell the story with saz, to recite in local language, to use quadrant verse unit, and syllablle meter, dialogue with the audience, extempore verse are the invariable elements of minstrel style poetry tradition and the indispensable values of minstrels with fiddle. Furthermore, interoperability of master-apprentice relationship, preference of coffee houses, fairs, wedding feasts, tablelands, as a performance environment make us think the cultural value as a troubardminstrelsy tradition’s kind of variation.
