Abstract

Author(s): Veli ÜNSAL

The Middle K?z?l?rmak Basin is located in the lands irrigated by K?z?l?rmak and its tributaries. The basin had features to meet all the needs of prehistoric people. For this reason, this region has attracted humanity from the earliest times and has caused it to be inhabited continuously from the beginning of the Paleolithic to the present day. Increased settlement activity in the basin during the Neolithic and Chalcolithic ages reached its peak with the ancient Bronze Age. Thus, the basin has been among the numbered regions of Anatolia since this period. As is known, the ancient Bronze Age forms the last stage of prehistoric times. The most important settlements in the basin in the last step of prehistoric times are Kültepe near Kayseri, Büklukale located within the borders of K?r?kkale, Kalehöyük around K?r?ehir, and Suluca Karahöyük, Topakl? Höyük and Zank Höyük located around Nev?ehir. As can be seen from here, Kayseri, K?r?kkale, K?r?ehir and Nev?ehir regions of the basin are included in the study.
