Melendiz River constitutes of 565,2 km² basin area which is a part of Endorheic Salt Lake Basin. After developing lots of small volumes of stream and spring which emerge from andesite, Mount Melendiz ends at the Mamasun Dam Lake after creating a canyon valley which has 890 meters deepness as an average and can be measured 100 or 120 meters in some parts of the valley, starting from Ihlara Town and ends in the borders of Selimiye village. Melendiz River’s average langht is 60 km and current direction is towards BP from GD. ?t’s average gradient is 2,5 %. Melendiz River has the characteristics of dendritic drainage along the conjuction areas of the tributaries. Meanwhile it has the characteristics of Braided drainage along the majör river flowing area. Ihlar Valley, occured by being buried into the lava plateau, has economic contributions to the area as Climatism and religious tourism.
