LOCAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION IN KASTAMONU PROVINCE AND SURROUNDING

Kastamonu administrative boundary is located a large region lying from Black Sea coast to inner Anatolian. It has the most extent area of the Black Sea Region of Turkey. The local distribution of temperature and precipitation in this wide area has examined in this study. Using the indicator parameters of the climate (temperature and precipitation) and topography, three different local areas were determined in the study area. These sub-locations are; a) Maritime/humid/warm sub-location near the shore is wider on the northwest facing slopes, which take the maritime effect of the Küre Mountains mass and narrower along the east coast. b) Semi-humid/cold sublocation includes the lowest temperatures on the Devrekâni Plateau, surrounded by the highest peaks of the Küre Mountains and high mountainous areas. c) Continental/semi-arid sub-location representing the low and inner slopes facing the south behind the mountainous masses (Küre and Ilgaz mountains).
