Mother language education is strongly emphasized in the process of general education and the main aim of mother language education is to help students acquire listening and reading comprehension skills, and the ability of expression. For this reason, basic linguistic skills such as listening, reading, comprehension, writing, and speaking are consulted. The present research was conducted to determine the reading comprehension level of primary school students that were from different socioeconomic levels. It was revealed that during the application of the study, students improved their reading comprehension skill. However, it was observed that both in the pretest and in the post-test there were conditions where an important number of students, especially from the low socioeconomic level, didn’t provide any response to the questions at all, and/or provided wrong responses to a significant number of questions in both tests. This finding which is based on a situation where students reading consist mainly of text books, indicates the need for further research as such.
