KONYA ÇATALHÖYÜK CARAVANSERAI AND ITS RESTORATION

It is important to keep the architectural heritage of our cultural history and memory alive and integrate it with today. In terms of our cultural continuity, it is crucial to make the buildings in bad and idle conditions function and ensure their reuse. Çatalhöyük Caravanserai is one of our registered immovable cultural assets. Çatalhöyük Caravanserai, with similar examples in the 19th century in Konya and its surroundings, exhibits characteristic features. The special typology of the caravanserai can be determined with the components of the plan, material, facade and top cover in the architecture. Recearcher are done archives, field studies and literature. Survey, plans, sections, elevations, tables and photographs are materials that contribute to the understanding of Late Period Ottoman the caravansaries in Konya. In recent years, awareness of protection has increased with the efforts of the state and non-governmental organizations. The first studies for the protection of Çatalhöyük Caravanserai were initiated by Konya Metropolitan Municipality in the KUDEB unit. At the last stage, Balo?lu Architecture Office carried out the restoration of the caravanserai.
