Islam is based on the principle of providing peace in human’s earthly life and hereafter. Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H) strived for this purpose through his prophethood. Although he and his companies were exposed to various kinds of torture and cruelty during 13 years of Macca period, he didn’t respond his companions’ request for reaction against attracters and he said “Be patient, I am not ordered yet to go to war.” Neither he got involved in any actual battle nor allowed his companions. Only after migration to Madinah, he adopted defense war when he was allowed to use it against unbelievers by a Qur’an verse. By organizing small battles and attacks against unbelievers to dissuade them, he intended to provide an atmosphere where Muslims can practice their believes and worships freely. He used tactics that will force his enemies to surrender in order to minimize the bloodshed. Thanks to this strategy, only 150 people from Muslims and 250 people from unbelievers lost their lives despite the fact that he was a leader controlling a land spread to 2 million kilometer square.
