ISMAIL SIHLI WITH NOVELIST ASPECT

Ismail Sihli, who has earned himself a place in Azerbaijani literature with his stories and novels, was born in the village of Sihli in the Kazakh district. Growing up in the Kazakh district, which has a rich oral and written literary tradition, Sihli begins his literary adventure with poetry. He draws attention with his stories and novels that made him famous over time. He writes his first prose works at the end of the 1940s and focuses on war. In his stories titled "Konserve Kutular?” (Canned Food Boxes), “Seheri Gözleyirdik” (We would Observe the Dawn), "Kerç Sular?nda” (In the Waters of Kerch), he addressed the negative effects of war on human psychology. His works titled Ayr?lan Yollar (Diverging Roads) and Seheri Gözleyirdik Mountains Call Out attract attention as works which received many positive criticisms. His first work written in accordance with the principles of socialism realism, Deli Kür(Crazy Kur), is considered among his most successful novels. At the beginning of this work, the capture of Azerbaijan by the Tsar's government and its colonization is depicted. In the novel, historical events and the contrasts in social psychology and society in the period when these events took place are successfully conveyed. Also, the conflict between classes is provided through realistic scenes and expressions. Ölen Dünyam (In My Dying World), which seems to have a complicated composition structure, the events of the 1920s are depicted. Social structure and human relations are revealed with a realistic perspective. Our aim in this article is to reveal the story writer and novelist aspects of Ismail Sihli, who is one of the influential literary figures of Azerbaijan, by using the available data and written materials.
