INVESTIGATION MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT BY SOME VARIABLES

The aim of this study is to examine the change in the attitudes of primary school 7th grade students towards recycling and the environment according to some demographic characteristics of the students. These variables are gender, family income level, mother's and father's graduation and occupation status, the number of members in the family, the heating system of the house, the characteristics of the house and the place of residence. Survey method was used in the study. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS. In this study, demographic information including student and family information and the environmental attitude scale developed by Avan et al. The study group consists of 7th grade secondary school students (n = 160) studying in three different schools from the central districts of Denizli province in the 2018-2019 academic year. As a result of the study, demographic characteristics other than the characteristics of the house inhabited did not make a significant difference in the recycling and environmental attitudes of the students, but the property of the house variable did not make a significant difference in the level of knowledge and emotion, while a significant difference was found in favor of the detached house at the level of behavior. In addition, it was determined that the recycling and environmental attitudes of the students living in neighborhoods that are far from the city center and integrated with nature are more positive.
