IN THE CONTEXT OF THE TURKISH EPIC HERO TYPE BATTAL GAZI

The epics are histories seen through the eyes of the public, heard by the public spirit and become a tale in the public dream. One of the most well-known and known epics of Turkish literature is the epic of Battal Gazi, too. The copies of the epic of Battal Gazi which were transferred into the writing in Anatolia were also reached to the Central Asian Turks and so the new texts of the epic in different dialects of Turkish were formed. Turks gave Battal to the veteran title and they lived him in their dreams for centuries. Connecting him to the descendants of Hadrat Muhammad Turks gave him the adjective sayyid. In the Epic of Battal Gazi it is seen that two world views are in collision. In our study, the qualifications in Battal Gazi as epic heroes will be examined. Firstly, we will focus on the qualities of the Turkish epic heroes, then Battal Gazi will be evaluated in the light of this information. As a result of the study, Battal Gazi has seen that he had many qualifications of Turkish epic heroes carried.
