Humanity who has the ability to think analytically, has been able to overcome the problems they encountered, develop new approaches for the problems that they could not solve at the first try, and reach new solutions by analyzing and classifying their problems. However humanity have had the ability to express their ideas, feelings and thoughts through visuals since human beings were not settled life yet. With the combination of analytical thinking ability and visual expression ability, human beings have found new surfaces in different periods of history where they can transfer the images in their mind or developed those surfaces for their purposes. In this article, the adventure of transferring the images in the mind of humanity to surfaces has been examined with a chronological perspective, and how the social, cultural, philosophical and industrial-based developments that took place in different periods affect the art of human beings. Starting from the cave walls and reaching the three-dimensional space offered by virtual reality technologies, it was examined how the visual culture created in this art and design journey reached the Digital space, a brand new canvas created by today's computer technologies and equipment, and was discussed about new technology possibilities for the future.
