GERHARD RICHTER IN 21st CENTURY GERMAN PAINTING

The text includes field research on a retrospective exhibition (Prague National Gallery, 2017) of the Gerhard Richter, one of the well-known German painter in the world. There are two purposes of field research mostly in Germany and Czech Republic. The first of these to analyze the process of change in the previous century of German Painting. The other is to determine of the position of G. Richter in today's (21st century) German Painting (through retrospective in one of the most important art gallery in the Czech Republic). For both purposes, the first part of the text contains the past of German Painting. In this place the political changes that took place in Germany in the 20th century and the effects of these changes on German art are mentioned. In the second part, G. Richter is presented. In this section, biographical and artistic information about the artist is shared. In conclusion, received data is discussed and a general assessment is executed.
