The ancient traces of human beings in Tekirda? date back to the very past times, though the initial settlements point the period of 4000 to 2000 B.C. As a number of archeological surveys performed around Tekirda? have revealed some works from the civilizations of different eras, it is understood that this site was used for settlement, and accommodated a considerable population. The population of the city varied for various reasons till today, but the population increase went on. Being an important settlement even today, Tekirda? still attracts more people for her geographical location, weather conditions, transport convenience and suitable farming and industrial facilities, her near distance to Istanbul, and the emergence of summer holiday resorts. The migration from other regions is another considerable demographic feature of Tekirda?.
