Historicism, in simple terms, is a dominant world view influential on all fields of thought that has started to take shape since the Renaissance but established itself mostly in the nineteenth century. It can be said that there has been a necessary relationship.. In this essay, the notion of “national monument”, which emerged from the efforts of preserving the national architectural heritage, will be analyzed briefly and the rise of the vernacular within the cultural milieu that followed the nationalization of architecture will be discussed generally.
