FIRE SERVICE ACCESSIBILITY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY IN ANTAKYA (HATAY)

Antakya is a city which has hosted many civilizations in the past and present. The reason of this historic property of Antakya is its location that exists on the major roads. Today the roads (transport network), as in the past, are important for the enrichment of civilizations. Transportation network is important for health and health agency as important as for commercial. The transportation and accessibility are the fundamental building blocks for development of society and to reach the level of exclusive nation. In this study, the fire stations in Antakya (Hatay) have been investigated. The location, capacity and problems of these stations have been handled. In addition, the arrival times of fire vehicles throughout Antakya district, in case of emergency, have been analyzed by using Network Analyses method as part of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Consequently, 2 fire stations have been determined throughout Antakya district. It has been seen that these number of stations are inadequate, 2 fire stations need to be establish. In context of accessibility, it has been found that the fire vehicles could arrive at last in 30 minutes throughout Antakya district. These arrival times will be decrease if proposed stations establish.
