As result of Turks and Iranians beings neighbours, political and trade relations, and the influence of Persian language and literature on Turkish writers and poets, an interaction occurred between Turkish and Persian languages. With this interaction, Persian words started to be used in Ottoman Turkish to a considerable extent. Thus, the period of Ottoman Turkish that contained Turkish, Arabic and Persian words in Turkish language began, and this period continued for centuries. Dominated by Arabic in terms of loan words, Ottoman Turkish also used Persian words, Persian possessive constructions and compound words extensively, which played no small part in its description as an elaborate and ornate language. With the efforts to simply Turkish language, a significant portion of the Persian words and forms fell into disuse in Turkey Turkish. However, some of the Persian compound words which were widely used in Ottoman Turkish are also used in Turkey Turkish today. This study discusses compound words that were borrowed from Persian language by Ottoman Turkish and are still used in Turkey Turkish in the present day.
