FACTORS CAUSING DIVORCE IN TURKEY: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS FOR 2012-2018 PERIOD

Divorce rates in Turkey have been quickly increased in recent years. In this article, factors causing divorce in Turkey between the years 2012-2018 are determined. The article differs from the other studies in two ways by examining the period which highest divorce rates and by including all divorces in Turkey. By including 16 divorce causes in factor analysis, factors causing divorce is divided into three categories. First factor basically is affected by age difference and men’s age. So, the first factor is called as “age”. Empirical results indicated that age was an important divorce reason. Second factor is affected by criminal, adultery and abandonment.
