EXAMINING THE VIEWS OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS ON THE USE OF MOBILE PHONES

The aim of this study is to reveal out the perceptions of prospective teachers on the use of mobile phones. The research is conducted via qualitative research method. Among the purposive sampling methods, criterion sampling and maximum variation sampling are used and 30 prospective teachers were included in the study group. Semi structured interview form, developed by the researcher was used. Among the purpose of using mobile phones, communication is mostly uttered category and the most emphasized application is related to messaging. All the prospective teachers use smart phones. Again providing communication is the seen to be the most significant benefit of mobile phones; whereas the health damage is the most expressed danger of them. The use of mobile phones during the lesson can increase learning but at the same time can create distractibility and reduce the academic performance. As a result of the research, it can be suggested that the mobile phone should be used more emphatically in instructional activities.
