EXAMINING PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS ATTITUDES TOWARDS TEACHING PROFESSION IN TERMS OF VARIOUS VARIABLES (ISTANBUL SABAHATTIN ZAIM UNIVERSITY SAMPLE)

The purpose of this research is examining prospective teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession in terms of various variables. The research was conducted in the “?li?kisel Tarama” model. The sample of the study is consisted of 136 prospective teachers that study in pedagojical formation program at ?stanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. The tool that are used for data collection were “Personal Information Form” and “Scale of Attitudes toward Teaching Profession” that are developed by Üstüner (2006). In the analysis of the data, SPSS package program was applied. At the end of the research, it is found that the attitudes of prospective teachers towards teaching profession did not differ significantly in terms of gender, type of university that are graduated and age. But, the attitudes of prospective teachers towards teaching profession showed a significant difference in terms of the reason for choosing teaching profession, the degree program that are graduated, marital status and perception of the teaching profession as a respectable profession.
