EVALUATION OF THE CAUSES OF VI OLENCE IN HEALTH SECTOR FROM COMMUNITY PERSPECTİVE

Work place violence by patients and patients’ family members, against health professionals is a serious occupational hazard and health sector violence is an important issue for all health sector employees. The aim of this study is to examine the perception of the causes of violence from the society/community perspective. The universe of this work; they are residents of Istanbul. This cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in the province of Istanbul from July 2018 to August 2018. Survey method was used as data collection tool. As a result of the research, the most important causes of violence according to participants are negative attitudes to patients by the health workers (2.86 ± 1.42) and health workers lack of interest in the patients (2.77 ± 1.44). The third reason for this is that health professionals are inexperienced (2.38 ± 1.23). The major conclusion reached by this survey is that violence against health workers is very unfavorable (3.56 ± 1.58).
