In Ahmed Cevdet Pasha's, who is a the Ottoman historian lived in XIXth century, works some parts about European history, there are some assertions and analysises related to European rulers. Among these rulers, comments especially about Peter I, Catherine II, Friedrich II, Louis XIV and Napoléon Bonaparte are striking. The main purpose of this study is; to follow the influence of these rulers on Ahmed Cevdet Pasha's works in terms of Ottoman modernization, to see method of Cevdet Pasha's analysis about these sovereigns and which notions are guide for Pasha's works. This study is important as a reflection of country's official historian's perception of Europe in Ottoman modernization era.
