Author(s): Mesut YAŞAR

Throughout history, the value given to art and the artist has not reached the place it deserves. The value of the works of most great artists was realized only after their death. In Western countries, the number of artists who sold their works with very high prices started to increase only since the 1990s. Ahmet Güne?tekin, a Turkish artist who was born in Batman in 1966 in Turkey, is one of them. Among the artists living in Turkey, Güne?tekin's works are among those given the highest price. The present study aimed to reveal the reasons for the success of Ahmet Güne?tekin with reference to today's art market. The data were obtained and analyzed by the literature review. According to the results, with the new world order established in the 1980s, international companies that dominated the world in the field of trade also took the art under control in a short period. These companies have developed an organizational model equivalent to the economic organization in the field of art and set some new criteria for art. The newly emerged artist model that is the "entrepreneurial artist" model. It was concluded that Güne?tekin was an "entrepreneurial artist" who strived to fulfill the criteria of global companies throughout his artistic career.
