EBÛ OSMAN AL-MÂZİNÎ AND ITS ROLE IN ARABIC MORPHOLOGY

Arabic grammar at the begining period was included nahiv (syntaks) and sarf (morphology). Arabic Syntax researchs sentences and especially the differnces at the end of the words in the sentence. On the other hand Arabic Morpology interest in the words. Ebû Osman al-Mâzinî was a early period Arabic linguist. And he wrote a lot of books but his at-Tasrif is the first book had been wroten in Arabic morphology. Indeed, he emphasized in his work and stated that the reason for writing and teaching was to teach the methods that the Arabs followed in establishing the verbs and noun phrases. In saying this, he said that the language that is in use is the main determining power and source. So his method and ideas in Arabic morphology sperated in the book that we reached it through ?bn Cinni’s commentary ‘al-Muns?f’ and so in the context of this book we studied on Arabic morphology and its importance.
