EARLY AND FORCED MARRIAGES: AN EVALUATION IN CONTEXT OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL WORK

All through the history, although women's rights have been guaranteed by many regulations both internationally and nationally, women still face many problems caused by gender inequality; continues to be incarcerated in a private sphere in the community. One of the practices that are produced by traditional and patriarchal culture, having girls and women become physically, socially, psychologically and socially disadvantaged, is the early and forced marriages. In the context of human rights of children and women; early and forced marriages are one of the areas where human rights violations, power inequality between women and men, violence against women and child abuse are most obviously seen. For all these reasons, “early and forced marriages problem" is also of interest to the social work profession, which acted in the focus of social justice and human rights.
