Avicenna (d. 428/1037), who is undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures of the Islamic philosophy, has written many works on different fields. One of his important works is Dâni?nâme-i ‘alâî which is a kind of encyclopedic work that consists of Logic, Metaphysic, Fizic and Mathematic sections written in Persian Language. This work remembles summary of e?-?ifâ and deals with the views of Avicenna on Peripatetic philosophy in a brief, unsophisticated and didactic way. With these basic features Dâni?nâme-i ‘alâî became a source for the opinion of el-Gazzâlî (d. 505/1111) about Peripatetic philosophy. Hence, the work of named Makâs?du’l-felâsife of el-Gazzâlî is a summary of Dâni?nâme-i ‘alâî.
