DEVELOPMENT OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN AZERBAIJAN IN THE CONTEXT OF ITS POLITICAL HISTORY

As a South Caucasus country Azerbaijan`s meeting with Islam lies to the early period of this religion. Later, in this region that took place various political processes, dominated traditional government system and traditional religious education methods two centuries before. The Northen part of the country was occupied by Tsarist Russia in 1828. Nearly two centuries that passed under the pressure of Christian-Western power, created deep damages in the people`s perception of religion, and completely abolished the traditional religious education institutions. Declaring its independence (1991) the people of Azerbaijan, protect their moral values again. And it is observed revival in the religious education institutions and religious life.
