DETECTING THE PERCEPTION OF LOCAL PEOPLE IN PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL TOURISM: A STUDY ON LOCAL PEOPLE IN MOUNT NEMRUT NATIONAL PARK AREA

The aim of this research is to detect the perception of local people living in Mount Nemrut National Park Area towards the protection and development of cultural tourism in the area and to identify differences among individual characteristics of local people with economic, sociocultural and environmental factors of area tourism. The survey form prepared for this purpose was applied to 500 local people living in Ad?yaman city Mount Nemrut National Park area between October 2017-December 2017, selected with convenience sampling method and with face-to-face interview method. In this context, arithmetic average and standard deviation values were calculated with frequency analysis, factor analysis was used in dimensional classification of the obtained data. As a result of the study, while the perception of local people towards the protection and development of cultural tourism in Mount Nemrut National Park area were generally identified as “positive”, it was also identified that they show difference in their ideas towards the subject according to their personal characteristics
