CULTURAL HERITAGE ITEMS IN SLOW CITY MOVEMENT (CITTASLOW): THE CASE OF ELMALI DISTRICT

Calm cities, which are the local or rural development model for sustainable tourism, have an important position day by day. The characteristics, potentials and values of the cities which have the feature of the calm city are worth exploring, and the calm cities can vary in terms of their characteristics. The fact that this concept, which changes parallel to the social and economic developments of the countries, is seen as a rural development model especially in local development increased awareness of this issue. Due to the fact that cities can be marketed, the rapid increase and expansion of competition in urbanism, and the fact that many cities stand out with their unique values and qualifications have led researchers to make a difference in the marketability of cities. The aim of this study is to determine the cultural values of the inhabitants of the city as cultural heritage and their thoughts on the protection of cultural heritage and to offer a rural development model based on the movement of the calm city (cittaslow movement). In the rural development dimension of the city (cittaslow movement) to determine the cultural heritage elements that can be considered within the scope of the calm city to reveal the value of the marketability of the study reveals the importance of the study. Data were collected from city residents by face to face survey method. In the study, the data obtained from the random sampling methods of 490 participants were analyzed in the statistical program. Reliability analysis, frequency analysis and chi-square test were used. In this research, the relationship between the socio-demographic characteristics of the city dwellers and the conservation of cultural heritage in Elmali and the thoughts of tourism in Elmali on the effect of tourism in the preservation of cultural heritage were examined by chi-square analysis. As a result; cultural values of the inhabitants of the city as cultural heritage are Vahab-i Ümmi Tomb, Sinan-? Ümmi Tomb, Ömer Pa?a Mosque and Tomb, Abdal Musa Tomb and Elmalili Hamdi Yazir Museum. The inhabitants of the city believe that the cultural heritage should be protected for "historical value and transfer to future generations". In addition, there were statistically significant relationships between the marital status of the city dwellers and the conservation of cultural heritage in Elmali and the thoughts about the effect of tourism on the preservation of cultural heritage in Elmali
