Cities are the most important physical structures framing people's lives. In recent years, cities have become more congested due to increasing population structure due to technological developments. In this way, they have started to be damaged by wear in time. Especially the urban open areas where people can spend their free time have become unable to breathe between the city's cramped and dense structure. For this reason, new planning approaches to alternative uses of people in cities are included. The design of urban open spaces for a single activity is not suitable for the user. Because there are many opportunities for ecological, economic, social, aesthetic and many other opportunities especially in the squares of the city people. At this point, the concept of space gained meaning and gained a new dimension in time for the demands and needs of the society. Alternating approaches, which are defined as the evaluation of urban open spaces depending on the intensity of use for the needs of society, provide alternative solutions by assuming a flexible role in the field of landscape architecture. In this study, it is aimed to provide new environments to the community life by making a literature review on the recycled areas in urban open areas and to support the use of alternate environmental uses. Adding multiple values to urban open spaces improves the human-environment relationship in idle and unused areas.
