COSMIC ELEMENTS IN THE DIVAN OF NEDIM

Sky and celestial bodies have been the center of attention in literature as in all areas throughout centuries because they are inaccessbile and sky and celestial bodies contain complex structure. Poets and writers have been increased human interest and curiosity more by using sky, stars, star clusters, planets etc in works. Divan literature which have almost six centuries life have been affected these elements and nearly, all of the Divan poets gave place cosmic elements in their works. Sometimes these were used to ennoble a estimable person, sometimes to tell beauty of darling. On the other hand, these have been used to criticize. Nedim, one of the last great poets of Divan literature, who lived in the 18th century, has been used cosmic elements frequently especially in ode and history in his own Divan. The aim of this study is to determine the cosmic elements in Nedim Dîvân to fix the characteristics of these elements and how these elements are handled by giving examples.
