This research was done in order to examine the conceptual change process and identify the misconceptions of 2nd grade science education candidates in terms of DNA replication. Sample consisted of 30 science education teacher candidates at an education faculty at a state university in ?stanbul. Word Association Test (WAT) was used as a data collection tool to identify the misconceptions and conceptual change processes of students. WAT was carried out as pre-test and post-test before and after the 3-week lessons. Frequency charts and concept maps were established according to the given key concepts and sentences by the students. When the pretest and post-test results were compared, the post-test results were found to be better. In the post-test, it was seen that more words were written related with the key concepts, more relations were established between the concepts, for some concepts concept learning was realized, and conceptual change processes were examined in detail.
