COMPARISON OF SPATIAL COGNITION AND CHRONOLOGY KNOWLEDGE OF THE STUDENTS OF GRADE 6 IN PRIMARY EDUCATION AND GRADE 9 IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

In the present study, it was aimed to compare spatial cognition and chronology knowledge of the students of grade 6 of primary education who learn social studies that were renewed and applied in Turkey and of the students of grade 9. For this purpose, the subject of the first Turkish states which is the mutual subject of the both levels was selected and a student knowledge test scale which contains this subject was applied. In the present study, it was tried to make an incident evaluation within the context of educational programs and text books concerning the relevant subjects. In the research, a general scanning modal was used. For this purpose, the “Knowledge Test Related to History of the First Turkish States” which was developed by the researcher and composed of 10 articles and had the reliability coefficient of 0,91 calculated with the formula of KuderRichardson (21) was used. As a result of evaluating the study and statistical data; unexpectedly different results were obtained between the two grades in terms of spatial cognition and chronology knowledge.
