COMBINED EFFECT OF TURKISH ENERGY SECURITY COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKEY AND RUSSIA

Doubtleesly energy is one of the most important parameters of nation’s development level in 21st century.As Turkey has a rapid population increase and economic development and,as because Russia has incredible natural reserves;both countries have a huge cooperation potential.Completed researches have shown that Turkey and Russia has a serious dependence.The aim of this study is to understand the energy safety policies of Turkey as an energy corridor and the effects of Turkish-Russian energy cooperation and depence on these energy safety policies.In this scope the methodology of the study has been based on historical process of the relationship between two countries and Turkey’s strategic location as an energy route is evaluated through existing pipelines.Besides,it has been approached quantitatively due to the use of energy as an instrument of foreign policy and at the same time natural gas relation with Russia has been studied by the use of up-to-date numeric data and by quantitative data.Turkey’s need of alternative energy resources and routes regarding the whole realities of energy safety ,as it is seriously dependent upon Russia on energy ,is also an output of this study.
