CLIMATE, SEASONS, WEATHER EVENTS AND PUBLIC CALENDER IN TURKISH PROVERBS

Proverbs are explanations and information that convey the culture and experiences of a nationfrom past to present with a structure that does not allow for any change. In this regard, when asociety's way of life is attempted to be investigated, proverbs should come at the beginning of theelements that need to be addressed. The role of difficult living conditions have been determinantin the behaviors, diet, clothing and economic activities of the Turkish communities. Especially the effects of the climate and weather events on lifestyle and the climate elements in our proverb are clearly apparent with the existence of the seasons and months potently. How the climate, weather events, seasons and months are reflected in the proverbs will be discussed in our study. An answer to question ‘Can a public calendar be created using proverb?’ will be searched for; sub-meanings will be attempted to be reached through analysis of the proverbs.
