Author(s): Petek DURGEÇ

Cartoon, one of the most important products of visual humor, is the art of capturing the ridiculous sides of events, phenomena, people, emotions and thoughts and transforming them into a humorous narrative with exaggerated drawings. Today, there is a direct relationship between the phenomenon of popular culture, which has the power to influence the masses, and the art of cartoon, a product of visual humor. It is possible to follow the socio-political developments in our country, the path followed by social change and the traces of the transformation taking place in daily life from humor magazines, which are a product of popular culture. The products are more easily consumed and become simple. In this study, an evaluation of the concept of popular culture is carried out and the effects of this phenomenon and social change on the content and style of humor magazines are examined.
