CHANGES IN TRADITIONS OF YIGITLER VILLAGE AVA ISLAND FROM PAST TO THE PRESENT

The globalization of the world, transformation process of traditional structure is perceptibly fast in Turkey and the world. In spite of developing technology and changing living conditions, traditions and customs in folk culture will be continue their existence in people’s life tomorrow as today, maybe in a different way. Human wants to know his/her culture’s past in transformation process and to understand what is happening today and to guess what will be happening tomorrow. That’s why cultural transformation is important. Traditions and customs help us to recognize a person from an area or a region. For this reason inevitably occurs to need to research and examine traditions of society. In this article, a part of traditions of Yiitler village and especially transformations of these traditions in recent years will be approached. Marriage, birth, to send men to army, and death which exist in traditional life in Ava Island Yiitler village will be focused and investigated. On the other hand, some traditions which exist in the past but not being applicated today and some traditions which still exist today with some transformations will be discussed
