Maritime was seen important from the first period in Ottoman history and studies have been made in this direction. Captains constituted important actors of the Ottoman Naval and were also a merchants. Heritage records are one of the important documents demonstrating socio-economic status of captains. It is important for showing that items of the captains they have used and their financial strength. In this study, we aimed to evaluate probate records of the Ottoman captain giving examples from other court records has died between the years 1718-1730 in Galata. We hope that this study will contribute to the history Ottoman maritime.
