CAHİT ZARİFOĞLU’NUN “SÜTÇÜ İMAM” ADLI TİYATRO ESERİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME A STUDY ABOUT SÜTÇÜ İMAM, A THEATRE WORK WRITTEN BY CAHİT ZARİFOĞLU

Abstract

Author(s): Ahmet USLU

The drama called “Sütçü ?mam” by Cahit Zarifo?lu reflects the occupation of Mara? first by the English and then the French and the battle against them under the leadership of Sütçü ?mam. The events in the drama are chronologically ordered. Although the character “Sütçü ?mam” shows up at the very last part of the play, it is felt that his personality traits seem to have been determined in previous sections. Sütçü ?mam represents independence spirit rather than a human being. The idea of presenting such a story arc in ?slamic Geography in 1920s has an aim of inspiring the national consciousness. Zarifo?lu puts forward Sütçü ?mam as a role model to Afghani considering the occupation of Afghanistan by Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1980S. The present play is purposefully written as a good representative of target message to be given.
