Dictionaries in verse which are accepted as a prestigious science Written as ‘fenn-i hatir’ and seen as easly been memorized, very useful, has little volume has been taught to ‘‘müptedi’’ and ‘’s?byan’’s’’ who just begin school, with the aim of teaching language among courses like sarf, nahiv, alet in medrese, dergah and mekteps. With that method in addition to word teaching to students with the help of “takti” couplets prosody information is also aim to be given. In dictionaries verse which written as stanzas which prosodic measure is used last couplet of each stanza’s first line is defined. Therefore this couplet is called as takti couplet. Furthermore, when the words whose meanings are given, are being refer to each other, utulization of reader from dictionary is eased by numbering the couplets from 1 to 9 or 12. This dictionaries in verse are written in three types; Turkish-Arabic, Turkish-Persian, Turkish-Arabic and Persian. The first example of figurative dictionary in Turkish culture is Lugat-i Feri?teoglu which is written in XIV th century, Bozoklu Osman ?âkir is one of the most important representative in XVIII th centrury by thre figurative dictionary. Osman ?âkir who is from science of denomination, studied in professorship and Molla Üsküdar In addition to dictionaries in verse like ?ehdü Elfâz (Turkish-Arabic) Nazm-? Dil-ârâ (Turkish-Persian) Müselles-nâme(Turkish-ArabicPersian) He wrote musavver seferatname which he told what he experienced and the places he passed when he went as interpreter in embassy comittee in 1881 to ?ran. In th?s study, Bozoklu Osman ?âkir and his wors will be introduced and his dictionary in verse, named as ?ehdü Elfâz will be transcribed and analysed.
