ASSESSMENT OF THE CONCEPT OF TRANSLATION COMPETENCE IN TRANSLATOR EDUCATION – THE CASE OF TURKEY

The primary purpose of the program designs in translation education is to make sure that students of Translation Studies acquire translation competence. Assessment of the acquisition of translation competence is a significant element of the process. The data were collected through the quantitative research methods in Translation Studies by using a scale of translation competence based on the Likert Scale. The acquisition of translation competence was measured in terms of the perceptions of students of Translation Studies and the expectations in the translation sector in Turkey, the results of which were assessed comparatively to make conclusions and suggestions about translation pedogogy.
