Abstract

Author(s): Hakan TEMİZTÜRK, Salih SEYHAN

Armenians say they were the victims of the first genocide of the twentieth century; A few of Turks (Intellectual Turks) says, too; like Orhan Pamuk. Most Turks say Armenians died during intercommunal fighting and during a war time relocation necessitated by security concerns. There are many information and documentaries which are the evidences on the Armenians’ destruction of the villages, town sand cities, to show how this process is practiced and how the decisions about emigration were being taken in the archives. Many historians wrote that the Armenians killed the Turk sand the Muslims. The “Armenian Genocide” thesis does not have any historicalor scientific base; the socalled evidences are being disproved by the historians. So, this subject should be discussed in terms of historical realities and the sides of this discussion should be those responsible to reflect this subject to media. Not only the interpretations with out any base about the “Armenian Genocide” but also the heroic manner sex posed by nationalist reflex cause pointless tension and also prevent to reach a robust result.

In this article, the literature review and discourse analysis are made related to “Armenian genocide” and Pamuk’s statements at Turkish media
