Author(s): Ahmet ŞENGÖNÜL Hacı Ahmet KARADAŞ Şerife Merve KOŞAROĞLU

Today, the tourism sector has become one of the most important sectors for the countries due to its economic opportunities. Tourism revives many sectors especially economic growth and foreign exchange earnings, and contributes to employment. In addition, the tourism sector offers regional advantages. While the tourist attraction capacity of countries is affected positively by natural and cultural factors, it is affected negatively by factors such as transportation difficulties and terrorist incidents. In this study, the relationship between tourism and growth of seven members of OECD including Turkey, has been investigated with the help of panel data of the period 1995-2017.Emirmahmuto?lu and Köse panel causality test results show that there is a one-way causality relationship from tourism revenues to GDP, and from GDP and tourism income to tourist numbers.
