ANALUZING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS’ LEADERSHIP BEHAVIORS AND THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS (THE CASE OF ANKARA)

This research aimed to determine the relationship between the leadership behaviours of the physical education teachers studying at secondary schools in Ankara and their communication skills. In the research two scales were used and applied to 486 physical education teachers studying at secondary schools in Ankara in 2012-2013 teaching years. One of the scales was the one which was developed by Bernard Bass and Bruce Avolio (1995) with the original name called ‘Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire-MLQ 5X – SHORT’ and the other was developed by Korkut (1996) with the name called ‘Communication Skills Assessment Scale’. In the analyzing of the study, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis-H Test and the distribution of the frequency were used to find relationship of variables. The meaningful is accepted as 0.05. According to the results, it was found that as the physical education teachers got higher levels in realizing their behaviours in the transformist leadership dimension, their level of communication skill also got higher
