AN INQUIRY INTO THE COMPETENCE OF EVIDENCE THAT USED IN FAVOR OF GOD

Abstract

Author(s): Ergin ÖGCEM

Perhaps the biggest problem for people believing religions such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which have the theistic character was to talk about God who is the founding authority of the religion, and thus the language, which was accepted as His. Ontologically, what kind of an entity God has who is claimed to be the absolute transcendent, what kind of language are going to be used about this entity and how to talk about God have always been the subject of discussion. Again, within the framework of the modern understanding, it was also a problem whether the justifications could be made about such an entity, which it is a problem to talk about. While those who adopt a faithful attitude about God claim that God is not an epistemic entity, so He can be grasped by surrender; those who adopt a rational attitude tried to do same thing by putting forward some arguments on the rational basis. These arguments, which are attempted to be formed largely from natural data and partly from man, had been organized in favor of God and defense strategies had been developed within this framework. In this article, we will focus on possibility that theistic evidences, which were formed by taking into account rational concerns could be in position as well as in favor of God
