Madrasahs have big importance in Amasya which hosts a lot of civilizations. There hasn't been a detailed research about Gökmedrese which is located in the city centre; even though it differs from other madrasahs not only because of its architectural structure, but also its function. One of the questions that needs to be answered is; what this historical building, which is used as a mosque at present day, was built for. In addition, there is no certain knowledge about its date of construction because of the building has not an inscription. In this article, it was tried to redate the building's construction and finding out the purpose it was built for; based on its stylistic characteristics.
