Abstract

Author(s): Vedat ŞAHİN

The use of terms is important in that they prevent ambiguity in areas of expertise, make concepts transparent, and ensure common meanings. Accordingly, terms are the building stones of a discipline. On the other hand, developments in different areas of expertise associated with geography should be introduced to the field of geography, and new terms should be prepared with a geographical approach for needs in the field of geography to be fulfilled. The glossary parts of the geography textbooks used in schools should involve the up-to-date versions of terms. The present study focuses on the glossary parts of high school geography textbooks. The study examines and evaluates the geography textbooks covered in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades that have been published by the Ministry of National Education.
